That’s all you’re getting from me for now. The rest is in the newsletter.
The newsletter drops tomorrow 📨
India has been reading manga for years. Now, the industry is reading India.
Kodansha Ltd. is officially launching Kodansha India, with plans to publish around 200 manga volumes a year in both English and Hindi.
Three reasons this is huge:
- Accessibility for readers: Local printing = lower prices + actual availability.
- Market Priority: Big global publishers are finally building for us.
- Opportunity for artists: It opens up real pathways for local creators.
The coolest part isn't just that we’re getting more manga. It's that the next generation of kids here will grow up reading it, drawing it and eventually publishing their own.
Can’t wait to see how this arc plays out.
P.S.- Illustration rights belong to Groww. Credit to the original creator.
(Whoever created these illustrations, along with the entire creative team behind them, deserves a little extra appreciation. The work is genuinely brilliant 👏 )

When I started Read Receipts, I just wanted a little corner to share things I was reading, watching, saving, obsessing over and occasionally making everyone else read too 😁
Now 2,000 of you are here!!!
Thank you for letting Read Receipts become a small part of your week. For reading it, sharing it, replying to it and sending me things that made their way into future editions.
And since we’re celebrating...
The next Read Receipt is coming this Thursday, 6th August 👀
It’s a slightly more exciting one. Maybe for the researchers. Maybe for the anime fans. I know, weird combination 😂 But I promise, it’ll be worth it.
A tiny teaser is coming Tuesday/Wednesday. I am saying tiny because I am trying very, very hard not to spoil it.
Heheee 🤭

Gap between "Imagine if" and "Look what I just built" is pretty much gone.
Remember filling notebooks with crazy ideas as a kid, wishing your favorite movie gadgets actually existed? The ideas weren't the problem, making them real felt totally impossible.
Then developer Maxime Rivest went and built Tom Riddle’s diary from Harry Potter. Using Fable on a reMarkable tablet, he recreated the whole experience. You write a note with the stylus, watch your ink slowly sink into the page and vanish and seconds later a handwritten response creeps back onto the screen. It's so cool.
For years now, we’ve treated AI like a super-powered assistant: write emails faster, fix code, summarize long PDFs. That’s all super useful, sure but stuff like this is amazing.
There’s no generic chat box or prompt window here. You just pick up a pen and write, like we’ve done our whole lives. The AI stays completely behind the scenes and lets the magic take center stage.
If you could bring any fictional object into the real world, what would you make? ?
